National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has established a strong foundation in the development of High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) technology. To ensure the sustainability of competencies and to strengthen human resource regeneration, it is essential to enhance the capacity of senior researchers, provide in-depth orientation for newly recruited researchers, and attract Indonesia’s most promising young talents in advanced reactor technology. The intensive training program on Reactor Engineering and Safety: HTGR is designed as a strategic instrument to preserve national expertise while ensuring the continuity of knowledge amid the evolving dynamics of the energy transition.
The development of high-temperature reactor technology holds strategic potential in supporting the provision of clean, reliable, and efficient energy. This technology offers significant advantages in terms of safety, thermal efficiency, and the optimal utilization of domestic resources. Therefore, structured capacity-building initiatives through comprehensive training programs constitute a critical step in strengthening national preparedness for the development and implementation of this technology.
As part of this effort, BRIN collaborates with its international partner, the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), which possesses extensive experience and expertise in the development and operation of high-temperature reactors. This collaboration aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, practical experience, and global perspectives to enrich participants’ insights. The training program is designed not only to enhance technical competencies but also to strengthen international research networks in support of a sustainable national nuclear innovation ecosystem.
