INTRODUCTION

Effective national and global management and response capabilities are essential for minimizing the impact of nuclear and radiological incidents and emergencies, as these incidents can have far-reaching consequences for public health, safety, and the environment. To address these challenges, the governments of Indonesia and Japan are collaborating closely to maintain and strengthen comprehensive emergency preparedness and response capabilities. This partnership focuses on enhancing training programs, sharing best practices, and developing coordinated response strategies that operate at local, national, and international levels. By fostering this collaboration, both countries aim to ensure that their emergency response systems are robust, efficient, and capable of protecting their citizens and the environment in the face of potential nuclear and radiological threats. The collaboration between the governments of Indonesia and Japan is to conduct the Follow-up Training Course on Nuclear/Radiological Emergency Preparedness which is organized in collaboration with The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), as the operator of nuclear installations in Indonesia, and Japan Atomic Energy Agency.

This training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, assess, and respond to nuclear and radiological emergencies. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises, we will explore the fundamentals of radiation safety, emergency planning, risk communication, and interagency coordination. By the end of this training, you will be better prepared to protect yourself, your community, and the environment in the event of a nuclear or radiological incident. Join us as we work together to enhance our collective safety and resilience.

Preparedness programs help ensure workers, the public, and the environment, are equipped to respond effectively to nuclear or radiological incidents, minimizing health risks.
Regular training and drills can identify potential vulnerabilities and improve response strategies, reducing the likelihood of accidents and their impacts.
Preparedness initiatives allow for better allocation and use of resources, ensuring that necessary equipment and personnel are ready when needed.
This training helps organizations meet legal and regulatory requirements related to nuclear safety and emergency management.
Regular exercises and evaluations lead to ongoing improvements in emergency response plans and strategies, ensuring they remain effective.
This training fosters knowledge sharing and best practices, enhancing overall safety standards and response capabilities.
Engaging in preparedness activities fosters collaboration among government agencies, emergency services, and private sectors, leading to a more coordinated response during an emergency.

Participants must have an educational background of at least an Associate degree (D3); and
Participants should be members of the Safety Implementation Function and/or members of the regional and provincial nuclear emergency preparedness and response teams; or
Participants must be part of the nuclear emergency response team within the Deputy for Research and Innovation Infrastructure (DIRI), specifically in the Directorate for Nuclear Facility Management (DPFK) and the Directorate for Management of Laboratories, Research Facilities, and Science and Technology Areas (DPLFRKST); and
Applications must be submitted by the relevant organization.
