Host:

DOE/NNSA's Office of International Nuclear Security (INS): Responsible for coordinating and organizing the event. The NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration) is an agency under the U.S. Department of Energy focusing on nuclear security and nonproliferation.

Support:

BRIN (National Nuclear and Innovation Agency): Provides administrative and logistical support for the event.
BAPETEN (Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency): Offers technical and security support related to nuclear regulatory oversight in Indonesia.

This workshop aims to bring together experts to share best practices in mitigating insider threats involving personnel with access, authority, and knowledge of sensitive facilities. Through interactive discussions and case studies, participants are expected to enhance their understanding and implementation of effective insider threat mitigation strategies.

INTRODUCTION

The Insider Threat Mitigation Workshop is a collaborative program between DOE/NNSA's Office of International Nuclear Security (INS), BRIN, and BAPETEN. The workshop will be held over 3 days and will focus on human-based measures within programs designed to minimize threats posed by personnel with access, authority, and knowledge.

The workshop will take place from July 22 - 24, 2024. The goal of this workshop is to discuss and share best practices in insider threat mitigation, with a focus on personnel security, access controls, and behavioral observation programs. Participant will have the opportunity to learn from subject matter experts and engage in interactive discussions to enhance their understanding and implementation of effective insider threat mitigation strategies.

The workshop will cover topics such as:

Nuclear Security Culture

Access control systems and procedures

Personnel security measures

Interview Technique

Behavioural observation and reporting programs

case studies and lessons learned

Collaborative discussions and knowledge sharing

By attending this workshop, participants will gain valuable insights and practical tools to stengthen their organizations insider threat mitigation efforts and enhance the overall security of sensitive facilities and operations.
